Irondequoit, N.Y. - RIT's annual "Big Shot" is happening Thursday night at Seabreeze Park.
The event requires hundreds of volunteers to participate in the nighttime photomaking process. Volunteers hold only flashlights or camera flash units to light up the subject. Experts refer to the process as painting with light. RIT photographers use a long exposure while volunteers “paint” the subject with light.
This year’s subjects include the Yo Yo swing ride, Jack Rabbit rollercoaster, the Log Flume, the Screamin’ Eagle ride, and other attractions at the park.
Gates to the park will open at 8 p.m. with the photograph taking place at 9 p.m.
Anyone is welcome to participate. Participants are asked to wear dark clothing and bring a flashlight. Admission is free.
