Rochester, N.Y. – Keb’ Mo’ says he was initially nervous to play with Daryl Hall.
“Yeah, I was out of control, in his world; I’m a control freak and I tried to let go of my control freak thing and flow with it,” he said.
Mo’, short for Moore, was introduced to Hall by John Oates, the man Hall partnered with for decades.
In 2007, Hall began recording jam sessions with various artists calling the series, “Live From Daryl’s House.”
Hall thought Mo’ would make a good counterpart and the two chose the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival to play live beside one another for the first time.
“We’re doing some songs from my [new] album and two from my previous albums and some of his songs too,” Mo’ said. “It’s kind of like a party, not a party, but it’s loose, it’s kind of like an event, that’s what I think of it as.”
Keb’ Mo’ is quickly becoming a regular at the Jazz Fest.
Many fans remember seeing the Grammy winner play here in 2010.
