Federally mandated budget cuts have left local non-profits with an uncertain future. Among those is the Al Sigl Community of Agencies which, as an umbrella organization, is celebrating 50 years of service our community's disabled. Al Sigl operates under a unique model, providing a physical space for a number of organizations to operate in and sharing certain resources and services. We'll hear how the organizations are bracing for budget cuts and share the agency's hope for the future.
Also, March is National Kidney Month and the local Kidney Foundation wants you to take a moment to consider one of the hardest working organs in the body. The kidneys filter hundreds of liters of blood per day and are essential to good health. They're prone to disease, however, and, in fact, one out of every three people is at risk for kidney disease. During this interview, we'll hear from a kidney transplant patient and learn how the organization is spreading it's message.
