Rochester has the good fortune of having many resources to help the deaf and hard of hearing, thanks to our large population of hearing impaired people. The same cannot be said about other places in the world and that’s what my next guests are trying to change.

Plus, this fall Rochester will be one of 175 cities nationwide hosting an event to raise awareness about an issue that makes many people uncomfortable. Suicide. My next guests are members of the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention of Western New York.

And, former Washington Post reporter Pete Earley will be in Rochester, October 1st, at a celebration for East House, a local rehabilitation facility for people recovering from mental illness and substance abuse. Earley is the author of a book called, “Crazy: A Father’s Search Through America’s Mental Health Madness.”

About the Show

"Many Voices, Many Visions" is a multicultural public affairs program airing on 13WHAM-TV Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m. The show explores our community's diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, creed, age, gender, gender orientation and ability. Teachers are invited to tape the programs for educational use. Each week the original "Many Voices, Many Visions" theme song is performed by different Rochester community members. Student performances are welcome.
