HIV Vaccine Awareness Day is May 6th in Rochester, ahead of the national celebration.  Its goal is to bring attention to new efforts to create an effective HIV vaccine.  Internationally one of the largest studies will be finished in June and a new trial in Rochester is starting soon.  Volunteers are essential to the study of a possible vaccine.  If you'd like to learn more about volunteering in HIV vaccine trials at the University of Rochester check out:  www.vaccineunit.org or call 756-2329.

May is Lupus Awareness Month. More than a million people inthe U-S have lupus and many are unaware of the disease—which sickens African Americans, Hispanics, Asians and Native Americans two to three times more than Caucasians.  Still—it’s been 50 years since the last Lupus drug was approved by the FDA.  We’ll take a look at why.
