September is Hispanic Heritage Month and the Ibero American Action League is launching its first campaign drive to help it deliver more and better services to local Latinos. Find out how one of our area's most established organizations is reaching out for help after offering it to so many for the last 40 years.
Plus, people who donate blood know it's considered a life saving gift. In 2008, in Monroe County, only two out of every 100 units of blood collected by the Red Cross came from Latinos. That number is too low, according to some Latinos who say it's imperative the group become more aware of the need for donations. We'll look at some of the cultural myths that may prevent some from rolling up their sleeve!
And, the group Volunteers In Living Color is looking to boost volunteerism numbers among local Black, Latino and Asian Pacific American people. We take a look at why there aren't more in Rochester and how their help is necessary to the well-being of the community.
