The Volunteers of America has launched a new campaign called "Strike Out Poverty". The campaign is part of the organization's mission to bring dignity to the lives of those who struggle on a daily basis to meet their basic needs. The campaign is being launched in addition to a new national public service announcement. Plus, the Rochester Red Wings are on board to help bring visibility to the mission. JoAnne Ryan, President and CEO of the Volunteers of America Western New York joins us in studio.

Also on the show, maybe you've seen the commercials and billboards featuring the cartoon characters spoofing a visit to an emergency room. The main character has a typical cold yet is rushed into an emergency room. The ad comically points to a problem of people going to the emergency room with non-emergency medical conditions. We'll hear from the president and executive director of the Monroe County Medical Society.
