CNN - This year has been a good one for Chrysler.
The automaker reports its third quarter profits are up 80% compared to a year ago.
The company said its net income for the third quarter hit a $381 million. Up from $212 million in 2011's third quarter.
But, it's down compared to the first two quarters of this year.
All told, though, Chrysler projects its net income will reach a total of roughly $1.5 billion dollars this year.
The news comes after last month's news that U-S auto sales hit their highest level in more than four years.
