(13WHAM-TV) - Holiday shoppers are expected to go online today in big numbers for "Cyber Monday". Experts estimate today will be the biggest online shopping day of the year for the third straight time.
The online event started at midnight with some retailers posting discounts on their websites.
Amazon.com, which started Cyber Monday deals at midnight, is offering as much as 60 percent off a 55-inch TV that's usually over $1,000. Sears is offering $430 off a Maytag washer and dryer and Kmart is taking 75 percent off all diamond earrings.
The research firm Com-score projects Americans will spend $1.5 billion shopping online today.
While analysts expect a big day, they say many people have already picked up their holiday gifts.
The National Retail Federation says U.S. shoppers hit stores and websites in record numbers over the four-day Thanksgiving weekend.
The number of shoppers rose more than 9 percent in a year.
