Washington D.C. - The Federal Trade Commission is holding a competition to come up with the best way to crack down on robocalls.
The winner will receive $50,000 and a trip to Washington D.C. to present their plan.
Robocalls are prerecorded phone messages sent out by a computer. Because thousands of numbers can be dialed quickly, it can be hard for authorities to go after those responsible.
The FTC says the majority of robocalls are illegal.
The competition ends at 5 p.m. EST on January 17. For more information,
