(13WHAM-TV) - Ford wants to revive its luxury Lincoln line, and is starting with a name change.
The brand will now be called the "Lincoln Motor Company."
The division's full name hasn't been used publicly since the 1950's.
Lincoln will also be allowed greater freedom from parent company Ford.
For the first time in years, it will have its own product development team and designers.
Ford is also requiring its dealers to physically separate Lincolns from Fords in showrooms, and to have different sales representatives.
Ford says it hopes these steps will help restore Lincoln as a luxury brand.
