Rochester, N.Y. - Bus riders will soon have more options when paying their fares.
This month the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority will begin installing new fareboxes on its fleet of 260 RTS buses.
The new fareboxes will accept $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills, in addition to using change.
Customers will receive change in the form of a "Stored Value Pass" to use on future rides.
The current fareboxes only accept exact change.
The $4.3 million upgrade is expected to be complete by mid-February.
