Henrietta, N.Y. - Sisters Kaley and Bethany Smith were shopping with their mom, Nichole, buying mostly clothes to get them ready for 5th and 7th grades.

“We're just finishing up,” said Nichole Smith.  “We've already been about 10 times.”

Plenty of shoppers with full bags made their way through Marketplace Mall in Henrietta on Labor Day, some spending more money then last year.

According to the National Retail Federation, the average person with kids K-12 will spend $688.62 on their kids' back to school shopping this year.  That’s up from $603.63 that was spent last year.

Shoppers also tell us, this won’t be their last trip to the mall.  “I need warm clothes,” said Molly Asheber, who was shopping for 7th grade.  Molly plans to shop again for school clothes in a couple of months.
