Best Buy is among the retailers that fear they've been losing sales because people with smart phones see a price in the store and compare it online using their smartphones.
The store has told its employees they can match some rivals' lower prices.
It applies to appliances and electronics and will be given on an "if asked" basis at the discretion of Best Buy staffers on the sales floor.
