Henrietta, N.Y. - Bargain shoppers love great sales and using coupons.
But starting February first, JC Penney shoppers will have to live without both.
The department store announced this week that it will stop issuing coupons and no longer have regular sales.
Instead JC Penney will permanently mark down merchandise by up to 40 percent.
"You would start to wonder if you got a good deal because there were so many sales," said Lori Barnett who was shopping Friday at the Marketplace Mall.
"I saw a sweater last week that was $20. This morning it's $14," said JC Penney's shopper Del Jackson.
Shoppers can still expect one JC Penney promotion each month.
"Anything that will simplify my life works for me," said Tom LaMartina while shopping at JC Penney.
Time will tell if any other department stores will follow suit by eliminating regular sales and coupons.
"Maybe Kohls or some of the other stores will do it, too. I'm looking forward to seeing if this works," said Jean-Luc Cipriano.
When you shop next week, expect to see a three-tiered pricing system at JC Penney.
They include "Every Day" low prices, "Monthly Value" discounts on select merchandise, and clearance deals called "Best Price" during the first and the
third Friday of each month.
JC Penney will also launch a new logo and marketing campaign next week.
