(Fairport, N.Y.) — Fairport High School is opening up its doors to family and friends dealing with Tuesday night’s accident in Bloomfield.
Outside the school, grieving students have gathered on a hillside bearing the numbers "07" painted in white.
Five members of Fairport’s Class of 2007 lost their lives late Tuesday night when the SUV they were in collided with a tractor trailer on Routes 5 and 20 in Bloomfield.
The victims have been identified as Hannah Congdon, Bailey Goodman, Meredith McLure, Sara Monnat, and Katie Shirley.
Fairport students, staff and parents were invited to gather at Fairport High School until 8 p.m. Wednesday night. The Fairport School District will continue to make support available for students, staff and parents who need it throughout the week, and further as needed.
