Rochester, N.Y. - Friday afternoon, jurors in the trial of suspended Greece Police officer, Gary Pignato, were excused until Monday at 9:30 a.m.

Closing arguments and deliberations will also be made Monday.

Thursday, a second woman testified against Pignato, charged with coercing a woman into sex.

Wednesday a surprise turned up in the case. Information surfaced that the accuser had, in the past, tried to kill herself, and Pignato had made a mental health arrest--that's according to records allowed into evidence by the judge. So as it turns out ,Officer Gary Pignato and his accuser had met before the day they had sex.

A month after the mental health arrest, Pignato responded to a domestic call at her home.

The woman claims Pignato forced her into having sex in exchange for not violating her probation for a petit larceny conviction.

13 WHAM News is not identifying the accuser because she may be the victim of a sexual crime.

The defense hammered the victim's credibility as she took the stand for the second day. Scott Green questioned her criminal past, prior drug addiction, and motives.

The woman filed a Notice of Claim to sue the Greece Police Department over the Pignato incident.

It's not clear if the jury will hear the information about Pignato's prior contact with the woman.

Pignato faces similar charges involving a second woman who is expected to testify in due time.

Tell the Truth - perhaps it is not what I say, but how you INTERPRET it. At the risk of beating a dead horse, yet again I repeat myself. YOU directed a post at me, PERSONALLY, to which I responded, admittedly, in a defensive manner, because I interpreted your post (i.e., telling me, I don't know my butt from my elbow, because I wasn't in court), as insulting. So, you see, interpretations can go both ways. I admit I was sarcastic in my response, but if I came off as insulting, it was only because that is the way I was made to feel by your post. Jerrin - I'm so sorry that I've hurt your apparently very delicate feelings, but the same goes for you. Just as with TtT, I responded to a post, that you also directed at ME PERSONALLY. However, I THINK I see where you're coming from, as I did directly insult beetoka, without any direct provocation, from him/her, IN THIS PARTICULAR THREAD. Perhaps if you take a look at beetoka's post history, you might better understand the post I direct at him, as well as the numerous votes it incited. Even so, I MIGHT apologize for my comment towards beetoka, IF, he/she even seemed to care about my personal opinion of him, as much as you do. The one thing we do seem to agree on (though I could be wrong, since I still can’t figure out your point of view), is that there is no use in continuing this argument. However, I REFUSE, to be politely asked (or otherwise), to shut up. Nevertheless, I am happy to grant you the last word. Assuming of course, that you'd like to go on, unambiguously, about what a big meanie I am. BUT, before I go, since you've been unable to come up with anything on your own, I just have to give you something specific to work with ... A wise man once told me, "Words are always wasted, on drunks, and the irrational minded." Hope you have a nice day! :)

To Thirdwatch, I do agree with the fact that if an officer or anyone responsible for the good of others should be held to a higher standard, and if they can not hold up their end, then they should be let go. I understand that he is suspended without pay and that is unusual to begin with. Usually it's suspended with pay. I feel that even if officer Pignato is found not guilty or of lesser charges, I doubt highly that he will ever be reinstated. That would be way to contraversal to have to sort out for our community. I just can't help but wonder if he ever did anything worth while, while being an officer of the law? HUH!!? Oh yes and there is the matter of the poor woman who is going through all this. If I were a betting person I'd have to believe she still knows how to count, if she get's to cash in that lottery ticket! I don't mean to sound so harsh, but I do speah from experience, just not with this particular case.

I really have to say it sounds just a little to covenient to me. We have "this poor victom #1" who obviously thinks she had a better way of winning the lotto, by coming forward at this time to say admittingly that she went to meet officer Pignato on her own free will. No one had a rope around her neck, first of all. First and foremost she had free will to go straight to any police station rather than go straight to a parkinglot to meet an officer who supposedly coerced her into having sex. Personally speaking, I would have been to a police station faster than you could blink. Instead she goes to meet him, and proceeds to have sex! Not Once but 3 times!!! Who Knew? Now that she came forward, there are 11 more right behind her. Looks like that lotto jackpot is big enough to split. Maybe officer Pignato could have been a little more discrete, but I'm sorry, not 1 of these women were physically forced into anything from what I have read. The word NO goes a long way, but nobody tried that approach, nor did any one come forward until now, to jump on the gravy train. Was the officer acting out as a predator or was it just plain old Testosterone? After all he didnt do anyone in his police car, he waited at his house with the hot tub ready to go. They all ended up there, so you decide. Better yet, let the jury decide!

taxtired - Maybe it is not what you say but how you say it! I'm not "up in arms" nor do I think other posters are "a bunch of morons". Maybe that should be the first clue on why you have been answered by not only me but other posters. Calling names and being a bully is not acceptable. If you choose to make a decision on guilt or innocents based on second hand and incomplete information go ahead. That is your right, I was attempting to inform you to things you did not read in the press. Sorry, you don't appreciate first hand knowledge of the proceedings. Have a wonderful Sunday!

RochesterWatch, If you had been in court, you would have known they did not "attack" the accuser! The attacked her story. She contradicted herself many time, as did her own witness. If that is attacking the "victim" then how is a person supposed to defend themselves. Sorry, but when the "victims" statements don't match what she told the State Police, when she parrots information he (State Police) gave on the stand that is incorrect, when the "victims" own back up witness totally contradicts what they said, there is a problem.

My dear taxtired, I am tired of this we are not going to resolve any issue here what so ever. You clearly do not know how to communicate with others, respectfully.True there are others that bash the primary people or person of the article and that is OK.To bash each other with intent to humiliate or intimate is not acceptable in social standings. Some people need to play better with other people as you have not displayed. I refuse to get into a word battle and justify your behavior and actions. Enough please, and have a nice weekend.

Thirdwatch has an excellant point. However it is not the system that is to blame for Officer Pignato's hiring. The Greece town supervisor, town board and police chief are to blame. They may claim ignorance to the facts of Officer Pignato's past problem, but I for one do not believe any of it. There is a close network among politicians and law enforcement. Had they done their homework he never would have been hired. A trained and experienced officer saves the town money and isn't saving money part of the bottom line? I will be at the polls to vote against every incumbant of the Greece political world and I hope other residents will do the same.

Geezaloo. I see that my post regarding beetoka, received 7 votes, therefore I am obviously not the only one who thinks he might be nutcase, but whatever. While I certainly can't speak for others, my opinion there, was based on, his clearly IGNORANT response to the article. My response, to Tell the truth's post, which was DIRECTED AT ME, was simply a logical defense, and by no means an "attack". Jerrin, AGAIN, I must ask you to be more SPECIFIC, as to what is I've said that you deem to be biased/unfair. Many of the posts here say things like ... "He's a PIG"" ... "Evil" ... "Fry him!" ... "Lock him up and throw away the key!"..."POS" (which stands for "piece of sh**", in case you're unaware). Whereas, all I said, was that he, Officer Pignato, has a lot of explaining to do. And that I, LIKE MOST PEOPLE, don't have time to sit in court all day watching trials. I also have no idea why, you think my response of "LMBO" indicates that I was upset, or even offended in any way. I don't know about you, but in my experience, people who are upset don't generally giggle. :p I'm just STILL very confused, as to what it is I said (other than the beetoka thing), that has you, and Tell the Truth, so up in arms. Neither of you seem to have any problem with other posters here, who have already decided to tar and feather this guy, before the trial is even over, something I have clearly refrained from doing. So WHY are you so bothered MY comments, in particular? You accused me of being an "authority" on the subject. WHY? Because as far as I can tell, both you, jerrin, and especially, Tell the truth, are under the assumption that all of the other posters here, are a bunch of morons, who could not POSSIBLY come to their own conclusions about this case, because they read "biased" news reports, or don't personally attend court procedings. Has beetoka been at the trial every day? Have you, jerrin? Or are all three of you the same person?

taxtired - 6/3/2009 -------Sorry I didn't see your post answering me till now. I wasn't lecturing you, you made statements and assurances WITHOUT going and hearing for yourself! As far as I'm concerned you can't make up you own mind without hearing the facts, if you rely on others, that is not making up you mind, that is being a lemming! Under no circumstances am I saying Officer Pignato doesn't have "issues" what I'm saying is all that are forming opinions from what they read "SECOND" hand, don't know the facts! I prefer to make an informed opinion, based on what I KNOW to be fact, not what is printed online or in a newspaper to make headlines and receive "hits" which goes their bottom line! I worked in media advertising for 11 years, I know how the game is played! I confronted a few "reporters" amazing how red they turned about their reporting practices!
