Albany/Rochester, N.Y. – Reactions to Eastman Kodak’s declaration of Chapter 11 bankruptcy have come from New York’s Governor, U of R’s President and many others, including Kodak employees present and past.

Rochester Mayor Thomas Richards said at a press conference Thursday, ""We'll get through it. What we need to do is keep doing the things we've already been doing."

Governor Cuomo’s main message is that although the news is difficult to hear, the State has been in touch with Rochester officials. “The state…stands ready to support the Rochester community,” he said in his statement.

University of Rochester President Joel Seligman expressed sadness, but also noted in a statement, “This does not mean Kodak will be liquidated or that all of Kodak’s current employees will lose their jobs.” He predicts a sustainable future for Kodak.

Rochester Business Alliance CEO Sandy Parker said in her statement that she shares the sadness, but, “I do not view this development as tragic for either Kodak or for the community...”

More reactions from employees, families and retirees will be broadcast at noon, 5, 6 and 11 p.m. as well as published on 13WHAM.com.
