Rochester, N.Y. -- On Monday, a bankruptcy judge ruled Kodak can move forward with plans to auction off its digital imaging patents.
Apple and several other tech companies objected to the sale, claiming ownership interests in a small number of the patents. But the judge ruled that all of the patents in the Digital Imaging and Kodak Imaging Systems and Services (KISS) portfolios are property of Kodak's estate.
Kodak hopes to raise $2 billion at auction. The company needs the cash to emerge from bankruptcy.
The auction will be held in early August.
