(Rochester, N.Y.) – Those hoping for a dramatic show when Midtown Plaza comes down will be disappointed.

Explosives and implosions will not be allowed, according to the request for proposals from demolition contractors issued by the city and state.

According to the document, the structures that will come down are:

• Pedestrian Sky Bridge from Xerox Building
• Pedestrian Sky Bridge from Chase Tower
• Pedestrian Sky Bridge from Sibley Building
• B. Forman Building
• Midtown Mall – This is a partial demolition, and the document did not detail what portions might be saved. A spokeswoman for Empire State Development did not provide additional details.
• Midtown Tower – This is a partial demolition, as Christa Construction plans to renovate the building. The document did not detail what portions could be torn down.
• Seneca Building – This will be a partial demolition, as PAETEC plans to use portions of the structure.
• Citizens Bank Building
• Scheer Building
• Wendy’s Building
• McCurdy’s Building
• Euclid Building
• Service Tunnel – This will be a partial demolition. The city wants the tunnel – which runs from Midtown to the Hyatt - operational during demolition.

The underground parking garage will be spared.

The state has committed at least $50 million to tear down the former shopping mall and office complex.

The winning bid will be announced on March 16.
