It was the Buffalo Bills first prime time game since 2008, and they clearly didn't want to leave a bad impression on the rest of the country.
The Bills got a strong defensive effort, and held on to an early lead to defeat the Miami Dolphins 19-14 Thursday night at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
C.J. Spiller, getting the start for an injured Fred Jackson, totalled 130 yards rushing and receiving on 25 touches to pace the offense for Buffalo.
The Bills also got a big boost from their special teams. After the defense forced a three-and-out on Miami's first possession of the game, Leodis McKelvin returned the ensuing punt 79 yards for the game's first touchdown. The only points Buffalo would score the rest of the night would be on Ryan Lindell field goals. He made all four of his attempts.
But the Dolphins would get two opportunities inside the last two minutes to win the game. Both chances would end in Bills interceptions by Jairus Byrd and Bryan Scott.
Buffalo's next game is Sunday, November 25th, against the Indianapolis Colts. Indianapolis is 6-3 entering this weekend's game against the New England Patriots.
