The Bills aren't going anywhere anytime soon. That's the message from former Bills quarterback and NFL hall of famer Jim Kelly when he was asked about the possibility of the Bills leaving Buffalo.
Kelly responded to the question Thursday in Syracuse, the same day that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced approval for an NFL stadium located just outside of Los Angeles. The Bills are mentioned as one of the teams that could be pursued to one day fill the stadium which would fit 75,000 fans with several luxury suites.
"I have the people that would step up and be a big part of it," Kelly said on Thursday.
Kelly, who led the Bills to four Super Bowls in the early 90's and was the team's quarterback the last time Buffalo won a playoff game (1995) has long been hoped for as the man who would help keep the Bills in Buffalo when current owner Ralph Wilson Jr. no longer owns the Bills. An even more interesting answer was revealed as Kelly continued to speak about the Bills one day leaving western New York.
"I don't think the Bills are going anywhere, especially under Commissioner Roger Goodell's watch. He's from right around the corner (Jamestown) and I don't think he'd be allowed back in the state of New York if he let the Bills slide anywhere else, so I don't think we have anything to worry about."
