Baltimore, MD – The Rochester Lancers (6-8) fell in a defensive battle against the Baltimore Blast (10-3) by a score of 8-5 in the 1st Mariner Arena. Indoor soccer legend, Carlos “Chile” Farias, made his Rochester Lancers debut, Mauricio Salles moved back into the MISL scoring lead with a 3-point goal that pushed his season-total to 42 points. Also, Lancers midfielder Elliot Fauske scored his first goal of his Lancers career.

The first-quarter saw each team feeling each other out. Baltimore goalkeeper made six saves and Patrick Hannigan made eight saves for the Lancers as the quarter ended with neither side being able to score.

Neto gave the Blast the first lead of the evening when his shot just inside the 3-point arc went through the legs of a Lancers defender and just inside Hannigan’s right post. Baltimore would double their lead when a Machel Millwood free kick attempt deflected to Carlos Garcia just in front of the Lancers’ goal and Garcia would back-heel it past Hannigan to give Baltimore a four-point lead after two quarters of play.

After the Blast Hall of Fame ceremonies extended the half-time break, MISL leading scorer Mauricio Salles got the Lancers on the board with a 3-point goal eleven seconds into the third-quarter. Neto’s second 2-point goal of the evening gave the Blast a three-point lead heading into the final quarter of play.

Baltimore was able to get the quick goal to start a quarter with Warren Ukah scoring just twelve seconds into the fourth-quarter on an assist from Max Ferdinand. With less than a minute to play in the game, Elliot Fauske scored a 2-point goal with each team short a man and Will Kletzien on as the extra attacker for the Lancers.
