Chinonso Obokoh, a 6'9" senior at Bishop Kearney has made his verbal commitment to attend Syracuse University next year and play basketball. Obokoh, one of the most highly recruited big men in the country, made his formal visited to the SU campus this past weekend and made the choice to play for Jim Boeheim's team as they move into the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Obokoh had narrowed his choices to five schools including SU, Texas and Temple, but chose the Orange because of his excitement about the success of the program and it's proximity to his adopted hometown of Rochester. Obokoh is a shot blocking big man who will likely fit very well into the middle spot in the back of the famous Jim Boeheim 2-3 zone defense.

Obokoh can not formally sign with Syracuse until November but is expected to do so when the rules permit.
