The NBA draft had many sports fans on the edge of their seats Thursday night.

It didn't take very long for at least one familiar name to come up—“The Cleveland Cavaliers select...Dion Waiters of Syracuse University!"

Dion Waiters left Syracuse University after this past season as a sophomore--to go into the draft.

At first he wasn't expected to go higher than a late first-round pick, but his stock kept rising.

Waiters wasn't the only name from New York.

Fellow Syracuse players Fab Melo and Kris Joseph went to the Boston Celtics.

St. Bonaventure's star player Andrew Nicholson went 19th in the draft. He's heading to Orlando to join the Magic.

Syracuse University graduate Scoop Jardine remains undrafted--for now.
