Daytona Beach, Fla. (AP) - Daytona International Speedway officials say the Daytona 500 will be run as scheduled today after the second-tier Nationwide Series race was marred by a wreck Saturday.
At least 33 spectators were injured when a car crashed into a fence sending debris into the grandstand.
Local officials say 19 people were taken to nearby hospitals, including two who were in critical, but stable condition.
Speedway President Joie Chitwood says a huge section of damaged fence that separates fans from the high-speed track will be back in one piece in time for the nation's premiere stock car race.
