Paul Posluszny arrived at training camp Wednesday with the rest of his Buffalo Bills teammates, but it will be a while before he is on the field for practice.
"A couple of weeks ago I had a quick procedure on my groin. Nothing major, but I'll be limited for a couple of weeks at camp."
It is a minor setback for the fourth-year linebacker who is expected to be one of Buffalo's two middle linebackers as the team makes the switch from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4.
"It was something I did in OTA's or minicamp, and it just kept getting worse and worse and we finally decided to take care of it now, so I can get through the season perfectly fine."
The procedure was done two weeks ago, and Posluszny said he expects to be on the field "pretty fast," although he is aware of how important his presence on the field is to the Bills defense.
"I definitely need to be out there, especially now that we have pads on and it's the real deal. I need to getting comfortable hitting again and fitting into this style of defense, so I am going to be a little bit behind, that's for sure."
