Rochester, N.Y. - An announcement will come next week regarding ticket sales for the U.S. Women's Soccer match against Costa Rica on September 1 in Rochester.
U.S. Soccer suspended its plans for ticket sales to the general public. Tickets were set to go on sale Friday morning. A large number of advance sales led the organization to hold off on sales to the public. More than 10,000 advance presale tickets were sold.
A disappointment for soccer fanatics like seventeen year old Katelyn Weitz.
"Since they won gold, everyone wants to be here," Weltz said. "But unfortunately, not everyone can."
"It's a little disappointing being from Rochester and fans for so long," said Cheri McDermott. "We'd like to have gotten tickets a little earlier, But what are you going to do?"
Around 1,000 tickets will be available to the general public when sales resume, according to Sahlen's Stadium President and COO Pat Ercoli.
While those seats will be hard to come by, faithful fans said they'll still try their luck.
"My dad knows someone that works here, so I'm hoping that's going to help a little bit," soccer fan Holly Henderson said.
"I'm going to try," said soccer fan Becky Drexler. "Maybe someone got tickets before that I could possibly buy from them."
"I'm just hoping my daughter can get a ticket so she can see Abby Wambach, her favorite person in soccer and hopefully I can make that happen," said Patricia Farley.
