Rochester had two of its own drafted into the NWSL on Thursday. With the 39th overall pick, the Western New York Flash selected Ashley Grove. Grove is a 2008 graduate of Aquinas Institute. Grove played four seasons at the University of Maryland, scoring 23 goals and 18 assists.
Thorns FC of Portland would select Jessica Shufelt with the very next pick. Shufelt is a 2008 graduate of Greece Arcadia. Shufelt led the Titans to the 2007 class AA state championship before heading to UCONN, where she scored 11 goals and added 10 assists. Shufelt will join former WNY Flash and current US Woman's National team star Alex Morgan in Portland.
