I read a review of round one of the NFL draft and it called the pick of Marcell Dareus by the Bills a "no brainer". That might be true, but to anyone who has followed this franchise at the draft over the past decade, the phrase "no brainer" takes on a different meaning.  This time the selection was not met with howls of "What?" or "Why?" and the experts did not call it a reach or a stretch.  This time they sat still and got the player many belove is the best in the entire draft.

Maybe Buddy lucked out a little bit.  Carolina went with the flash of Cam Newton and Denver took the risk with the pas rushing LB Miller.  So when Buffalo went on the clock, a talented, productive and hard working player, who just happened to fill a huge position of need, was waiting for the Bills call.

We have all seen enough drafts to know that just because a guy has talent and was great in college does not mean it translates to the NFL.  But Marcell Dareus should be a can't miss guy.  I love his mindset and his attitude.  He appears to combine a certain humbleness with a mean streak on the field that can separate him from the pack. I love that he says he doesn't like quarterbacks.  Maybe Tom Brady and Mark Sanchez will actually have someone to point at every time they go to the line against Buffalo for once.

Going forward I know there is some temptation to take a quarterback.  Hear me now Buddy.  Don't do it.  Second round quarterback picks are nearly a guaranteed flop in the NFL.  Drew Brees (I will give you that one) and then a series of John Becks and Tavaris Jacksons. They almost always fail  Skip the qb and go with defense again Buddy. Or maybe some quarterback desperate team wants to trade to Buffalo to get Andy Dalton.  Steal and extra high pick from them and bulk up the lines (both sides of the ball).

Buddy Nix has said "We got a lot of needs guys"  I think he addressed a big one with Dareus, lets see him fill a few more on Friday.
