The Minnesota Twins have chosen not to renew the contract of Red Wings Manager Tom Nieto, ending his two-year run as the team's manager. Nieto-led Red Wings teams lost more than 90 games in both seasons with the Red Wings, compiling an overall record of 102-186 (.354).
“The Minnesota Twins organization would like to thank both Tom and Floyd for their contributions. These changes in
Rochester are just part of an overall directional change that is being implemented throughout the minor league system this
off-season,” said Minnesota Twins Director of Minor League Operations Jim Rantz. (courtesy Rochester Red Wings)
“We can’t thank Tom and Floyd enough for all they did for us the last two seasons. This was a business decision by the
Minnesota Twins and this is one of those tough days to be in this business,” said Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason. (Courtesy Rochester Red Wings)
The Twins also announced that hitting coach Floyd Rayford's contract was not renewed either. The rest of the coaching staff, including pitching coach Bobby Cuellar is expected to return to Rochester.
