Sabres owner Terry Pegula is the new owner of the Rochester Americans. Pegula's deal to buy the franchise was given approval on Friday afternoon in a vote of the AHL Board of Governors . Pegula has been in discussions to buy the team from current owner Curt Styres for the past several months.
The Amerks had been the affiliate of the Sabres for 29 seasons until that relationship ended 3 years ago. Since that time the Amerks have worked with the Florida Panthers and the Sabres worked with Portland as their AHL affiliate.
