BUFFALO, N.Y. - Autopsy results performed on former Buffalo Sabres star Rick Martin show that he died of Hypertensive heart disease while driving his car in Clarence on Sunday. Martin was involved in a one-car accident around noon when his car struck a pole.
Martin's autopsy specifically showed that Hypertensive Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease, a disease related to high blood pressure and clogged arteries was responsible for Martin's death.
The Sabres and Martin's family has announced that a public memorial will be held on Thursday, March 24th at HSBC Arena starting at 11 a.m.
