SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — No. 11 Syracuse has earned the No. 3 seed in the East Region of the NCAA tournament and will play Indiana State on Friday in Cleveland.

The Sycamores (20-13) gained their first NCAA tournament bid in a decade by beating Missouri State for the Missouri Valley Conference title. The Orange (26-7), meanwhile, earned their 28th trip to the tournament in Jim Boeheim's 35 years as coach at Syracuse.

Boeheim has taken 15 of those teams to the round of 16, winning the 2003 national championship. He ranks seventh overall and third among active Division I coaches with 44 NCAA tournament wins.

Boeheim said the most important thing for the Orange "is to make sure we're playing as well as we can play going into that game on Friday."

Syracuse saw its six-game winning streak end Friday, when it lost 76-71 in overtime to UConn in the Big East semifinals.
