Earliest and Latest Snow Dates in Rochester.

According to National Weather Service, records for Rochester show the average date for the first snowfall (at least a .10”) is November 5th and the average date for the last snowfall (also .10”) is April 16th. The earliest recorded accumulation of snow was on October 13th, 2006 when Rochester measured .3”. Usually Rochester will see snow from October through May, 8 months in total. The largest snow accumulation late in the season was on May 19th, 1976 when 0.4” was recorded. It should be noted that conditions during the infamous ‘Year without a summer’ in 1816 may have been more extreme. However, official data only dates back to the 1870s.
