It is Memorial Day Weekend which has become known as the “unofficial start of summer” and what better way to begin the season then with some summer-like warmth. We anticipate the temperature will be well above the average temperature heading into Memorial Day. In fact, when you look closely at the numbers it will feel more like the month of July rather than late May as the mercury rises to within a few degrees of 90. The record temperature is 93 degrees set back in 1911, but this record should not be in jeopardy. It should be noted this will be the first time this season that the unusual heat will be coupled with increasing amounts of humidity. The heat index takes this into account and combines the amount of moisture in the air with the actual temperature. It is a comfort index similar to the wind chill which measures how the steamy weather feels on the human body.
