Lake snow is in the forecast this week and there is no doubt you will be hearing quite often the terms flurries and snow showers. These terms are sometimes used interchangeably when referring to light snowfall. When you look at the definitions of the two phrases they are nearly identical. A flurry is defined as a term used for a snow shower, usually with minor accumulations. The definition for a snow shower is falling snow of varying intensity for a short period of time. We try to use these words within their descriptions. When flurries are forecasted you can expect a quick, light snowfall, with usually little or no accumulation. When snow showers are in the forecast we are looking for off and on snow, which could accumulate up to a few inches over a given period of time.
