We learned a long time ago that the meteorologists at 13 WHAM have to be where our customers are and these days it is mobile. In addition to the newspaper and radio, the internet has become the fastest way to get breaking weather information out to the public. Most media outlets have their own websites and now we are reaching a new audience through Twitter and Facebook. Social media has increased the speed and reach for local meteorologists when it comes to getting weather alerts out to the public. These social media tools are particularly valuable in rapidly changing weather situations like winter storms and thunderstorms. In addition, the public is communicating back to the meteorologist with reports and pictures of dramatic weather. If you would like to follow the 13 WHAM weather team on Twitter or Facebook just go to 13wham.com and look for the "about us" tab at the top of the page.
