Rochester is finally getting a taste of winter this weekend, but before Friday winter had been just about nonexistent for the month of February. Have you been wondering where the cold, snowy weather has gone? Try the European continent which has experienced some of the coldest temperatures in decades. Recently there have been reports of the mercury dipping to minus 36 degrees Fahrenheit in parts of the Czech Republic. In addition, heavy snow has been found through Serbia, Bosnia, Italy, and Turkey. Rome, Italy measured 8 inches of snow last week and that is the largest single snowfall in that city in over 25 years. But it is not just Europe being hit hard by the severe cold. North Africa has had a rare snowstorm. Tripoli, Libya had 3 inches of snow recently which may have been its heaviest snowfall since the 1950s.
