Is Rules of Engagement's time almost up?

The long-running CBS comedy, which has narrowly avoided the TV grim reaper several years in a row, may finally bite the dust this season. Series star David Spade has signed on to star in the ABC comedy pilot Bad Management, TVGuide.com has learned.

The complete pilot report: ABC has Rebel Wilson, Bradley Whitford and S.H.I.E.L.D.

Spade, 48, will star as Tobias Jr., the son of a department store owner who is brought in to run the place and decides to focus the company on youth and sex — much to the chagrin of the self-centered manager (Sharon Horgan). New Girl's Rachael Harris will co-star as one of the department store employees. Horgan and Holly Walsh will write, while The Neighbors' Aaron Kaplan will executive-produce.

Spade is the second Rules cast member to sign on to a pilot this season, which is also the last season of the cast's contracts on Rules. Patrick Warburton is set to star in and produce the CBS comedy pilot Jacked Up about a beloved, recently retired baseball player who finds that adjusting to retirement isn't as easy as he thought it would be.

"Right now, I think our impression is that this is it. We're all happy where we're at and we have to thank our fans for even getting here," Warburton told TVGuide.com earlier this year. "It's been a long haul, but a blast."

What do you think of Spade's new pilot? Do you want Rules of Engagement to end?
