Honeoye Falls, N.Y. – Some local servicemen and women and their families got unique therapy Sunday.

The EquiCenter hosted a Military Family Day, offering horse therapy and demonstrations, pony rides, food, games and music.

The event was an extension of the Horses for Heroes program, which provides therapeutic horseback rides for veterans and their families.

“It’s the whole family that is affected by deployment or an injury,” said Jonathan Friedlander, EquiCenter’s president and CEO. “We try to do a day when they can sort of be recognized and we give back a little bit for all they give.”

ABC News anchor Bob Woodruff’s foundation supports the Horses for Heroes program. Woodruff was seriously injured while reporting in Iraq in 2006.
