Rochester, N.Y. - Highland Hospital is cutting the ribbon Thursday evening on its new mural project called - "Art Takes Flight for Your Health".
The murals - on seven stairwells (Levels 1 through 7) depict the "cycle of life". The idea to have art in the stairwell came from Dr. Ashish Boghani, who frequently uses the stairs while on patient rounds. He suggested an art gallery in the stairwell could encourage more people to walk instead of riding the elevators.
Highland recruited two local artists - Rizzo and Rutherford - who designed and painted the murals over a four-month span.
