Rochester, N.Y. - A discovery by University of Rochester researchers could extend lives for people with heart disease.

Doctors found adjusting the way defibrillators are programmed could reduce unnecessary shocks.

The minor adjustment was found to lower the risk of death by 55 percent, and reduce pain for patients with defribrillators.
