Scuba Diving

Buoyancy Control Device (BCD)
A buoyancy control device, or BCD, is an inflatable vest that can be orally or mechanically inflated with air in order to regulate your buoyancy in the water.
Diving safety
Scuba diving is a safe and enjoyable sport when the correct safety procedures are known and followed. That is why completing a scuba diving certification course is required before a person can dive.
Fins, masks, and snorkels
Proper diving equipment should include a quality mask, snorkel, and fins. Masks come in a variety of styles and shapes, but must include the nose inside of the mask for proper equalization of air pressure.
How to get certified
In order to obtain compressed air, buy or rent scuba equipment, or participate in diving activities, you must become certified by a nationally recognized certification program.
Planning your dive
Proper planning helps to ensure a successful and enjoyable dive. It can also prevent disappointments due to misunderstandings, forgotten items, or poor conditions.
Regulator/air tanks
The air tank or scuba tank is a cylindrical (sill-LIN-drih-cuhl) metal container used to safely store high pressure air for breathing. Scuba cylinders are available in a variety of sizes and pressure ratings.
