One of those youngsters managed to put the key into the van’s ignition, depress the brake, and shift it out of park.  The van rolled downhill into the pond and began to quickly sink.

Sherrie, McKenna, and Jordyn raced to the rescue.  Sherrie managed to swing open the back doors and one-by-one handed her children out to McKenna and Jordyn’s waiting arms.  They all swam to shore and glanced back to see the van entirely submerged in barely two minutes time.

"Thinking about it now, especially coming up to Thanksgiving, I mean it's only been a few months; it hasn't been very long. I can look back on it and say, 'man we really do have a lot of to be thankful for,'” James Anderson said.  “We always have, but to get that special feeling inside, I mean basically like Sherrie said, to wake up and see their three faces this morning and realize what this holiday could've been like without them and it…boy it sinks in.”
