Batavia, N.Y. – An investigation is still ongoing after a beauty supply store in Batavia was robbed early Saturday.

Genesee County Sheriffs say a masked suspect armed with a knife walked into the Sally Beauty Supply store at 4662 Veterans Memorial Drive in Batavia shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday. The suspect allegedly demanded an employee at the store to give him all of the money in the store’s register. The suspect also allegedly stole money from the employee’s purse.

Sheriff’s officials say the suspect bound the employee’s wrists and ankles with duct tape, and then fled the scene.

An initial investigation of the crime found that the suspect may have been operating a light-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee made between 2002 and 2007. He was reportedly last seen heading north through Towne Center Plaza.

The store employee was unhurt in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office at 343-5000.
