Utica, N.Y. - A synthetic drug known as "bath salts" is blamed for some strange behavior over the weekend.

Police officers in Utica were called to a city bar Saturday night to check out a woman described as emotionally disturbed. When an officer approached her, she lunged at him and tried to bite his face.

Police say she screamed that she wanted to "kill someone and eat them."

The woman was taken to a hospital for mental health evaluation.

When 13WHAM’s Evan Dawson researched the relatively new use of bath salts as a recreational drug, he talked to Rush-Henrietta Drug Prevention Coordinator Mark Head.

According to Head, kids have been taking bath salts thinking there was no problem.

You can learn more about this dangerous drug in Evan’s Story.
