Chili, N.Y. - A fire forced three families from their Chili Ave. apartments early Sunday morning.
Chili Firefighters were called to the scene around 12:30 a.m. They say the large house contains several apartments.
Chili Fire Chief Don Johnson says the snowy weather and icy driveway and roadway made it difficult to fight the flames.
Part of the roof caved in on itself, making the building uninhabitable.
Eight people were able to escape. The Red Cross is assisting all three families with housing.
At least two cats were also rescued from the burning home, while two others remain missing.
One firefighter hurt his arm. He is now recovering at home.
Investigators say an electrical issue caused the fire.
