"Personally I've started a campaign on Facebook to boycott New York period,” said Ken Mathison of the Shooter’s Committee On Public Education (S.C.O.P.E.) “Don't buy anything from a New York business, don't buy anything from a New York business, don't purchase any product that's manufactured in New York regardless of what it is.”

Mathison said lawyers for S.C.O.P.E. were hard at work on Tuesday planning legal challenges to the law.  Mathison expects some of those to be successful but that does little to comfort his current frustration.

"If I have one of these guns I have to register it with the state, I have to keep it locked up, I can't sell it to whoever I want to but a criminal can do what he pleases,” Mathison said.  “He can have all the ammunition he wants, all the illegal guns he wants but the state punishes me.  I find that offensive and every freedom-loving person in this country regardless of how they feel about guns should find that offensive that a law abiding citizen is punished by his government.”

After the NY SAFE ACT was signed into law Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office issued the following statement.

"The new law will limit gun violence through common sense, reasonable reforms that include addressing the risks posed by mentally ill people who have access to guns and banning high capacity magazines and lethal assault weapons," Governor Cuomo said. "This legislation is not about hunters, sportsmen, or legal owners who use their guns appropriately. It is about reducing gun violence and making New York a safer place to live. I thank leadership of both the Assembly and Senate for their action on this important legislation."

The Governor’s Office also released the following details of each provision:
