Rochester, N.Y. - Monroe County Court Judge Frank Geraci has been nominated to become the new United States District Court Judge for the Western District of New York.

Geraci has experience as an assistant district attorney in the Monroe County District Attorney's Office, and as an assistant U.S. Attorney.

He served as a Rochester City Court Judge from 1991-1999, and has been a Monroe County Court Judge since 1998.

"Judge Frank Geraci's first-rate legal mind, steadfast dedication to the professional administration of justice and deep knowledge of Monroe County and Western New York make him an ideal nominee for the federal bench in the Western District," Sen. Chuck Schumer said. "Judge Geraci has shown himself to be an outstanding legal professional through his service as a district and federal prosecutor, in addition to his 20 years as a city and county judge in Rochester. His lifelong dedication to the Western District makes him a clear choice for this position."

Schumer nominated former Monroe County District Attorney Mike Green for the post in July 2010. Green's nomination never cleared the U.S. Senate.
